Le Guin osadzone w Orsinii: powieść "Malafrena" (1979), trzy piosenki, zbiór opowiadań "Opowieści orsiniańskie" (1976) oraz dwa dodatkowe opowiadania.</span><br style="text-align: justify;" /> <span style="text-align: justify;">Pomysł kraju zwanego Orsinią przyszedł Ursuli Le Guin do głowy w 1949 roku podczas studiów w Radcliffe. Kolejne teksty cyklu powstawały w późniejszych latach, publikowane były w różnych zbiorach opowiadań oraz w tygodniku "The New Yorker".</span><br style="text-align: justify;" /> <br style="text-align: justify;" /> <em style="text-align: justify;">Pamiętam, kiedy wpadłam na ten pomysł: w naszym małym spółdzielczym akademiku Everett House w Radcliffe w jadalni, gdzie można było uczyć się i pisać na maszynie do późna, nie przeszkadzając śpiącym. Miałam dwadzieścia lat, pracowałam około północy przy jednym ze stołów i wtedy po raz pierwszy mignął mi przed oczami ten mój inny kraj. Nieważny kraj w Europie Środkowej. Jeden z tych, które zdemolował Hitler, a teraz demolował Stalin. Kraj położony niezbyt daleko od Czechosłowacji albo Polski, ale… nie przejmujmy się granicami. Nie któryś z tych częściowo zislamizowanych narodów - bardziej zorientowany na Zachód… Może jak Rumunia z językiem wywodzącym się z łaciny, lecz ze słowiańskimi naleciałościami? Aha! Zaczynam nabierać wrażenia, że do czegoś dochodzę. Zaczynam słyszeć nazwy. Orsenya po łacinie, a po angielsku Orsinia. Zobaczyłam rzekę Molsenę, płynącą przez otwartą słoneczną okolicę do starej stolicy Krasnoy (krasniy to po słowiańsku "piękny"). Krasnoy na trzech wzgórzach: Pałacowym, Uniwersyteckim, Katedralnym. Katedrę Świętej Teodory, jawnie nieświętej świętej, noszącej imię mojej matki… Zaczynam orientować się w terenie, czuć się jak u siebie w domu, tu, w Orsenyi - to matrya miya, moja ojczyzna. Mogę tu mieszkać, dowiedzieć się, kim są inni mieszkańcy i co robią, i o tym opowiadać.
