Tour à tour comédien et humoriste, il écrit sa première pièce de théâtre, <i>Infâme divorce</i>, jouée par une troupe de théâtre à Loutété. <i>Aurore</i> est sa première publication.

Drei Jahre nach dem verlorenen Krieg kehrt ein junger Mann aus der Kriegsgefangenschaft zurück und bleibt bei dem Mädchen, das er zu Kriegszeiten kennen- und lieben gelernt hat. Bald schon muss das Paar heiraten, weil Nachwuchs unterwegs ist. Arbeitslos und ohne Zukunftsperspektive setzt der Vater noch vier weitere Kinder in die Welt. 1958 wird das Familienoberhaupt wieder Soldat, jetzt bei der Bundeswehr. Er schwört ein zweites Mal, dem Vaterland bedingungslos zu dienen. Untergebene und Familienangehörige werden wie willenlose Wesen behandelt, herumkommandieren gehört zum Alltag. Nur das jüngste, vom Vater am meisten geliebte Kind widersetzt sich seinem Drill und flüchtet schon früh in eigene Welten. Um der ständigen Kontrolle, der häuslichen Brutalität und den sexuellen Übergriffen zu entkommen, reißt die Jüngste mit einer Leidensgenossin aus und landet in Spanien/Torremolinos im Drogen- und Prostitutionsmilieu. Durch Interpol gesucht, gefunden und wieder daheim, wird sie zur Strafe vom Vater monatelang eingesperrt. Nach der Volljährigkeit findet sich das stets bevormundete Mädchen nur sehr schwer im eigenen Leben zurecht. Nach Abbrechen der Schule und zwei Ausbildungen gelingt ihr, Dank des fürsorglichen, großen Bruders, eine Ausbildung zur Hebamme. Doch trotz ansehnlichem Beruf bleibt die junge Frau orientierungslos, beziehungsunfähig und wechselt ständig die Wohnungen, bis ein wesentlich älterer Mann in ihr Leben tritt.
