His Last Bow is a collection of seven Sherlock Holmes stories (eight in American editions) by Arthur Conan Doyle, as well as the title of one of the stories in that collection. Originally published in 1917, it contains the various Holmes stories published between 1908 and 1913, as well as the one-off title story from 1917. The collection was originally called Reminiscences of Sherlock Holmes and did not contain the actual story His Last Bow, which appeared later, after the full-length The Valley of Fear was published. However later editions added it and changed the title. Some recent complete editions have restored the earlier title. When the Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes were published in the USA for the first time, the publishers believed "The Adventure of the Cardboard Box" was too scandalous for the American public, since it dealt with the theme of adultery. As a result, this story was not published in the USA until many years later, when it was added to His Last Bow. Even today, most American editions of the canon include it with His Last Bow, while most British editions keep the story in its original place in The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes.

Por primera vez en la historia, un número creciente de iglesias protestantes en América Latina está cooperando en la formación de sociedades misioneras interdenominacionales y enviando misioneros a muchos lugares de ultramar, especialmente a Africa, Asia y Europa. Por otra parte, hay muy poca reflexión misionológica. La mayor parte de la literatura que se usa en los cursos y encuentros sobre la misión ha sido traducida del inglés y generalmente se caracteriza por su pragmatismo. En lo que atañe al estudio de la base bíblica de la misión, existe un gran vacío. Ni en castellano ni en portugués hay nada comparable a Transforming Mission por David Bosch. La presente obra surgió de la toma de conciencia de este vacío a la vez que del considerable crecimiento, en estos últimos años, del número de estudiosos bíblicos que bien podían ser desafiados a estudiar y escribir un libro sobre el tema propuesto. El proyecto pudo concretarse gracias a la consecución de fondos, por parte de la Fundación Kairós de Buenos Aires, del Research Enablement Program (REP) del Overseas Ministries Study Center (OMSC) de New Haven, Connecticut, Estados Unidos, para realizar una serie de consultas con el propósito de producir el libro. Las consultas se llevaron a cabo entre mayo de 1995 y marzo de 1996, convocadas por la Fraternidad Teológica Latinoamericana, en colaboración con tres centros de reflexión teológica: el Centro Kairós de Discipulado y Misión (Buenos Aires), el Centro Evangélico de Misiología Andino-Amazónica (Lima) y la Comunidad Teológica (México). A Study in Scarlet is an 1887 detective novel written by Arthur Conan Doyle. The story marks the first appearance of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson, who would become the most famous detective duo in popular fiction. The book's title derives from a speech given by Holmes, a consulting detective, to his friend and chronicler Watson on the nature of his work, in which he describes the story's murder investigation as his "study in scarlet": "There's the scarlet thread of murder running through the colourless skein of life, and our duty is to unravel it, and isolate it, and expose every inch of it." The story, and its main characters, attracted little public interest when it first appeared. Only 11 complete copies of the magazine in which the story first appeared, Beeton's Christmas Annual for 1887, are known to exist now and they have considerable value. Although Conan Doyle wrote 56 short stories featuring Holmes, A Study in Scarlet is one of only four full-length novels in the original canon. The novel was followed by The Sign of the Four, published in 1890. A Study in Scarlet was the first work of detective fiction to incorporate the magnifying glass as an investigative tool.
