The origin of guilds has been the subject of a great deal of discussion, and two opposing theories have been advanced. According to the first theory they were the persistence of earlier institutions; but what were these institutions? Some say that, more particularly in the south of France, they were of Roman and Byzantine origin, and were derived from those collegia of the poorer classes (tenuiorum) which, in the last centuries of the Empire, chiefly concerned themselves with the provision of funerals; or, again, from the scholae, official and compulsory groups, which, keeping the name of the hall in which their councils assembled, prolonged their existence till about the year 1000.

On compte en Suisse plus de 2500 groupes d'entraide dans le domaine de la santé et le secteur social, un chiffre qui a pratiquement doublé au cours des dix dernières années. La présente étude montre la situation actuelle, les avantages et les limites de l'entraide autogérée en Suisse et traite notamment les questions ci-après. •Comment les participant-e-s et professionnels voient-ils les groupes d'entraide? •Quelle est la portée de l'entraide autogérée pour le système de soins, le domaine social et la prévention? •Quelle est la situation de l'entraide autogérée en Suisse en comparaison internationale? •Quelle est l'importance du soutien et de la promotion professionnels des groupes d'entraide par les 20 Centres Info-Entraide régionaux et Info-Entraide Suisse? •Quelles perspectives se dessinent quant à l'entraide autogérée? L'étude se base sur un sondage écrit et oral mené auprès de plus de 1000 participants aux groupes d'entraide, sur des entretiens avec des professionnels d'Info-Entraide Suisse, les Centres Info-Entraide et des participants du monde social et de la santé, ou encore sur des analyses statistiques du nombre et des thèmes des groupes d'entraide. Les résultats indiquent un tableau varié de l'entraide autogérée en -Suisse et mettent en avant son importance pour la société.

<p>Huta Pieniacka przed masakrą liczyła 172 gospodarstwa i około 1000 mieszkańców, we wsi znajdowała się również spora liczba uciekinierów z innych miejscowości.<br />We wczesnych godzinach porannych 28 lutego 1944 roku miejscowość została otoczona przez 500–600 żołnierzy ukraińskich formacji policyjnych SS. Wojsko wspierali członkowie UPA oraz ukraińscy mieszkańcy okolicznych wsi. Napastnicy zaczęli przeszukiwać zabudowania, a mieszkańców zgromadzili w kościele i szkole znajdujących się w centrum wsi. Zabudowania podpalono.<br />W czasie zagłady została wymordowana niemal cała ludność Huty Pieniackiej. Uciekinierzy napisali wspomnienia, złożyli swoim najbliższym relacje, przekazane po latach historykom, i instytucjom naukowym. Wielu z nich złożyło też odpowiednie zeznania przed prokuratorami IPN. W ten sposób powstała obszerna dokumentacja tragedii. Materiał badawczy zawiera 100 opowieści świadków dramatu oraz sporą liczbę wspomnień, strof poetyckich i luźnych zapisków. Autor dotarł również do dokumentów historycznych, rozkazów wojskowych, raportów Armii Krajowej, odpowiednich fragmentów kroniki 14 Dywizji SS Galizien, materiałów niemieckich, ukraińskich i rosyjskich, które pozwoliły na ustalenie przebiegu akcji pacyfikacyjnej i jej zakończenia.<br />„Naród, który nie szanuje swojej przeszłości, nie zasługuje na szacunek teraźniejszości i nie ma prawa do przyszłości” – JÓZEF PIŁSUDSKI.</p>
