La crítica literaria cumple un rol fundamental en procesos de formación del canon literario. En este sentido, esta compilación de artículos académicos escritos por mujeres sobre escritoras ecuatorianas busca hacer camino: dejar rastro de la presencia y existencia de estas autoras, tanto de las que escriben como de las que son objeto de escritura. Es el gesto indispensable de regresar a ver, de cuestionar las exclusiones del pasado y del presente, y, sobre todo, de proponer nuevas miradas y actores. Es un gesto crítico que no quiere definir nuevos cánones –eso sería caer en las mismas prácticas–, sino flexibilizarlos, abrir el concepto de literatura para volverlo más democrático.

The volumes cover the beginning of Christianity until before the promulgation of the Nicene Creed at the First Council of Nicaea. This edition consists of fragments of St. Peters writings as well as a collection of fourteen canons issued by Peter in the third year of the persecution dealing chiefly with the lapsi, excerpted probably from an Easter Festal Epistle. The fact that they were ratified by the Council of Trullo, and thus became part of the canon law of the Eastern Church, probably accounts for their preservation. Many MSS. contain a fifteenth canon taken from writing on the Passover. The cases of different kinds of lapsi were decided upon in these canons.

This book argues that nineteenth-century editors created the modern idea of English Renaissance literature. The book analyses the theories and practices of editors who worked on Shakespeare, but also on complete editions of a remarkable range of early modern writers, from the early nineteenth century through to the early twentieth century. It reassesses the point at which purportedly more scientific theories of editing began the process of obscuring the work of these earlier editors. In recreating this largely ignored history, this book also addresses the current interest in the theory and practice of editing as it relates to new approaches to early modern writing, and to literary and book history, and the material conditions of the transmission of texts.
