Digital games are collaborative endeavors, yet poststructural theory s deconstruction of the auteur concept overlooks its potential. This study proposes reformulating the auteur category to empower non-Western and non-heteronormative female developers. The auteur concept, currently seen as serving Western, white, heterosexual male interests, can be pivotal in subjectifying diverse developers and teams. Through examining works of Muriel Tramis, Elizabeth La Pensée, Christine Love, and Meg Jayanth, this research illustrates benefits of designating these individuals as female auteurs. Using an intersectional framework, the author argues that the auteur category is crucial for protecting rights of women and sexual minorities in gaming. These developers represent their communities, regardless of their specific roles. The study posits that integrating digital games and auteur theory can benefit underrepresented groups. It contributes to discussions on authorship in digital media, diversity in game development, and the intersection of identity and creative expression in gaming. A Footnote Merges with the Journey: Studies in Romanticism, Greece, and Travel Dedicated to Professor Maria KalinowskaThe presented studies have been dedicated to Professor Maria Kalinowska, whose publications concern such historical and literary issues as Romantic existence, the Antiquity of the Romantics, philhellenism, travel. In a way, the articles reflect the interpretative interests of the Professor, and the layout of the book reflects the three areas that can be considered crucial to her research path. Firstly, many of the sketches are about Romanticism, secondly, many of them are of Greece - both the ancient and that of the 19th and 20th century (and the ideas of it), thirdly, they explore travel itself and its existential dimension.

Książka stanowi kompendium wiedzy o administracji więziennej z perspektywy prawa karnego wykonawczego i administracyjnego, prawa europejskiego oraz kryminologii, penologii i socjologii. Service or Power The author attempts to answer the question whether prison administration meets the standard of good administration, conducting the research on deepening the trust of the convicts, the use of discretion and its legitimacy by ensuring procedural justice. Referring to the results of research she describes the hidden life of the prison and its community: officers and convicts. She analyses the factors crucial for civilizing the prison and its administration. She also attempts to determine whether and how they contribute to the goal of imprisonment.

Classical Antiquity is a particularly important field in terms of Hope studies [...]. For centuries, the ancient tradition, and classical mythology in particular, has been a common reference point for whole hosts of creators of culture, across many parts of the world, and with the new media and globalization only increasing its impact. Thus, in our research at this stage, we have decided to study how the authors of literary and audiovisual texts for youth make use of the ancient myths to support their young protagonists (and readers or viewers) in crucial moments of their existence, on their road into adulthood, and in those dark hours when it seems that life is about to shatter and fade away. However, if Hope is summoned in time, the crisis can be overcome and the protagonist grows stronger, with a powerful uplifting message for the public. [...] Owing to this, we get a chance to remain true to our ideas, to keep faith in our dreams, and, when the decisive moment comes, to choose not hatred but love, not darkness but light. When Egyptians fear death or apprehend it, or when they are confront withthe taboo of death, they tend to submit themselves to God s will, hoping that he will save them from danger. While taking refuge in God, they resort to religious formulae, choosing from what seems to be an endless collection of prophylactic, protective or soothing incantations and blessings. The role of religion in everyday social interactions of Egyptians cannot be overemphasised. It regulates human relations and helps to catalyse the inner fears of man. Religious formulae denote complex cultural concepts by relating to multi-layered and multi-dimensional, recurrent situations. This embedding in sociocultural context is a crucial feature of formulae. Thus, formulaicity is the lens through which this book analyses the response to the taboo of death in Egypt. Dissertation of Lech Raczyński is devoted to the presentation of data processing algorithms in the Jagiellonian PET (J-PET) scanner. The work describes original and inventive methods of signal and image reconstruction. I consider their development a great achievement due to the complex methodology of determining the position in the J-PET scanner based on measurement of the light pulses propagation time in long plastic scintillators. The author applies modern methods of data processing, like compressive sensing theory and total variation regularization technique. For their evaluation both experimental and simulation data of the J-PET scanner were used. This work is an important contribution to the field of PET. The presented results are crucial to the success of the J-PET project.prof. dr hab.
