The volume Migration and Education is the first publication of the recently created Migrant Education and Integration Research Centre (CBEIM in Polish: Centrum Badań nad Edukacją i Integracją Migrantów) at the Pedagogical University of Kraków.It appears at a time when the integration of migrants in Europe has become a crucial issue. The International Office for Migration defines migration as the movement of a person or a group of persons, either across an international border, or within a State. It is a population movement, encompassing any kind of movement of people, whatever its length, composition and causes; it includes migration of refugees, displaced persons, economic migrants, and persons moving for other purposes, including family. In this book we focus on migrant education because education is one of the most important determinants of an individual s human capital and there is a strong relationship between migration and education. Education enables people to supply skills that can be used in a variety of tasks. Migrants raise the supply of certain skills and hence the range of potential tasks associated with them, but natives can limit the effect of the increased competition brought by migrants by moving onto different tasks that are less easily supplied by immigrants (Tani 2017). Migrants leave their country to find a more peaceful or just a better place to live.

The presented monograph: The Taiwan Issues is a valuable result of the project Taiwan Studies Center, inaugurated and conducted during the academic year2011/2012 at the Institute of the Middle and Far East of the Jagiellonian Universityin Kraków.The project s goals comprised academic teaching, research and exchangebetween Poland and Taiwan; increasing the awareness about Taiwan, its culturaland historical heritage; and developing a better understanding of Asiaamong the Polish academia. [...] The issues presented in the volume are concentrated on two cardinalproblems that shape the situation of modern Taiwan: challenges of politicaltransformation, which led to the development of vibrant democracy (firstthree chapters), and various aspects of the situation across the Taiwan Strait,i.e. between Taiwan and China (three latter chapters). All topics share thesame rationale of historic legacy: dramatic situation of the civil war, which asthe final point caused the division of China in 1949, and the hostile relationsacross the Taiwan Strait until the 1980s. They heavily shaped the ruling party s (Kuomintang,KMT) policy in every aspect of people s life, starting from education,through Taiwan s indigenous people rights, to contacts with the relatives whostayed in the mainland China. The report is an attempt at a comprehensive analysis of economic and social considerations related to unconventional gas exploration and production in Poland and its individual regions. The report encompasses an impact assessment of the conventional gas production sector in Poland on local economic processes. Its findings, juxtaposed with experiences of the North American shale gas revolution, resulted in a list of possible benefits to socio-economic development of Polish regions stemming from the impact of the shale gas exploration and production sector. The present publication is a source of factual arguments which in the current, early stage of development of the shale gas sector in Poland, can be crucial for establishing a true, and thus positive, climate surrounding shale gas. Recovered from an injury, Jim seeks a position on the Patna, a steamer serving the transport of 800 "pilgrims of an exacting faith" to a port on the Red Sea. He is hired as first mate. After some days of smooth sailing, the ship hits something in the night and begins taking on water. The captain thinks the ship will sink, and Jim agrees, but wants to put the passengers on the few boats before that can happen. The captain and two other crewmen think only to save themselves, and prepare to lower a boat. The helmsmen remain, as no order has been given to do otherwise. In a crucial moment, Jim jumps into the boat with the captain. A few days later, they are picked up by an outbound steamer. When they reach port, they learn that the Patna and its passengers were brought in safely by a crew from a French navy ship. The captain's actions in abandoning both ship and passengers are against the code of seamen and the crew is publicly vilified. When the other men leave town before the magistrate's court can be convened, Jim is the only crew member left to testify. All lose their certificates to sail. Brierly, a captain of perfect reputation who is on the panel of the court, commits suicide days after the trial.

The present training units can support you in improving your team's handball-specific fitness, especially in terms of speed, speed endurance, and strength. The strength training units focus on improving core stability with musculoskeletal and dynamic stabilization exercises. Stability plays an important role in handball, as it is crucial to a high physical performance and can prevent injuries. Considering speed and speed strength, reflexive jumping power, short sprints, and speed endurance are especially important. These skills are essential for succeeding in handball. The training units combine course strength trainings with short contests and handball-specific exercises, thus showing the possibilities for creating a diverse fitness training that is also fun for the team. The present training units are designed for older youth teams and adult teams. Hence, certain physical requirements must be met. The exercises can also be used in the training of younger teams, however, you have to make sure that the difficulty level is appropriate for the younger players. This book contains the following training units: TU 1 – Series of shots with reflexive jumping power training This unit focuses on training the jumping power with handball-specific shooting exercises. After warm-up, a coordination run exercise, and a sprint contest, ball familiarization includes jumping and additional exercises with the ball. After the goalkeeper warm-up shooting, reaction time and jumping power are trained in two individual shooting exercises. A closing game completes this training unit. TU 2 – Intensive speed strength/speed strength endurance training with various running directions This athletics unit focuses on improving speed strength endurance. After warm-up and a short game, five athletics exercises train the various groups of thigh muscles by moving forwards, backwards, and to the side. This training unit is very intense and can thus be incorporated in preparation periods or season breaks. TU 3 – Handball-specific endurance training with fast break movements This unit trains handball-specific endurance focusing on running and jumping exercises. After warm-up including a coordination run exercise, ball familiarization includes a passing and running course across the whole court. Goalkeeper warm-up shooting includes a series of 4 shots combined with a subsequent 2-on-2 fast break. The following endurance unit requires jumping exercises and playing 2-on-2 across the whole court alternately. This intense unit ends with a team exercise and a team fast break contest. TU 4 – Intense athletics training for arms and legs This intense training unit focuses on athletics training. After warm-up including a game with high running intensity and a coordination run exercise, an athletics course is done.
