El libro III, que completa este volumen, incluye la primavera y el otoño del 67, cuando Nerón envía al general Vespasiano a apaciguar la provincia. Sin duda, Flavio Josefo tenía en esta obra un propósito apologético: ensalzar el poderío de los romanos y de la nueva dinastía de los Flavios, la que fundaron sus protectores Vespasiano y Tito, y en efecto el imperio se muestra como un engranaje casi perfecto y ambos emperadores como dechados de virtudes.
