Es ist auch kein Geschichtsbuch und kein Technikbuch über die Computer der siebziger und achtziger Jahre. Es ist dies alles und trotzdem etwas anderes. Der Schwerpunkt des Buchs liegt auf dem Zeitraum zwischen 1974 und 1994. Neu in der zweiten Auflage ist ein eigenes Kapitel über einen Pionier, der zeitgleich Computer entwickelte – aber einige Nummern größer: Seymour Cray und seine Supercomputer. Die restlichen Kapitel wurden durchgesehen und leicht ergänzt.
