Mit dem Wunsch nach Entschleunigung und dem Trend zur Nachhaltigkeit werden zunächst zwei spannende Zugänge zur analogen Fotografie dargestellt. Gezeigt wird, welcher Zauber in der Selbstbeschränkung und dem Warten auf das Foto als Ergebnis des gesamten kreativen Prozesses der Fotografie liegt und wie erfüllend die Kontrolle über diesen Prozess für den Fotografen sein kann. Es wird dann aufgezeigt, dass die Nutzung auch viele Jahrzehnte alter analoger Kameras, der sorgsame Umgang mit Fotochemikalien und der achtsame Umgang mit Motiven gute Beiträge zur Nachhaltigkeit der analogen Fotografie leisten können. Anhand besonders ikonischer und für die Alltagsfotografie geeigneter analoger Kameras wird dann gezeigt, dass die Eigenschaften und Eigenarten der analogen Fototechnik in besonderem Maße entschleunigtes und handwerkliches Fotografieren unterstützen. Ausgehend von der Entwicklungsgeschichte über die Beschreibung der wichtigsten Kameraeigenschaften bis hin zum praktischen Einsatz soll den Lesern ein möglichst einfacher und spielerisch-entdeckender Zugang zu den ausgewählten Modellen ermöglicht werden. Im Mittelpunkt steht dabei stets, welche Inspirationen zur Kreativität von der jeweiligen Kamera ausgehen und welches Fotografiergefühl die Kameras gerade heute noch oder wieder vermitteln. Danach steht das entschleunigte Fotografieren im Mittelpunkt, also die gestalterischen Möglichkeiten, die sich gerade durch die analoge Technik ergeben. Dabei wird der Mut zur Selbstbeschränkung in den Fokus gestellt und auf bestimmte Eigenheiten der analogen Fototechnik wie besondere Filmtypen, spezifische Formate oder einzelne, feste Brennweiten bezogen. Es werden Typen analoger Filme behandelt, die über das "Standardangebot" hinausgehen und besondere Effekte bieten. In Kapitel zwei wird gezeigt, dass es alles andere als langweilig ist, sich auf nur eine Brennweite wie zum Beispiel 35 oder 50 mm an einer älteren analogen Kamera zu beschränken. Vielmehr eröffnet es neue Möglichkeiten, kreativ zu werden und seinen eigenen fotografischen Stil zu finden. Dies gelingt ebenso mit einer 85 mm Mittelformat-Rolleiflex in Amsterdam wie mit einer analogen Leica und 35 mm Objektiv in New York. Abschließend wird der Prozess der Positiventwicklung in der heimischen Dunkelkammer dargestellt. Unter der auch in diesem Teil des Buches verfolgten Leitidee der Entschleunigung wird gezeigt, welcher Zauber im Warten auf das selbstentwickelte Bild liegt.

<p>This book presents the signal processing algorithms that have been developed to process the signals acquired by a spherical microphone array. Spherical microphone arrays can be used to capture the sound field in three dimensions and have received significant interest from researchers and audio engineers. Algorithms for spherical array processing are different to corresponding algorithms already known in the literature of linear and planar arrays because the spherical geometry can be exploited to great beneficial effect. </p> <p>The authors aim to advance the field of spherical array processing by helping those new to the field to study it efficiently and from a single source, as well as by offering a way for more experienced researchers and engineers to consolidate their understanding, adding either or both of breadth and depth. The level of the presentation corresponds to graduate studies at MSc and PhD level.</p> <p>This book begins with a presentation of some of the essential mathematical and physical theory relevant to spherical microphone arrays, and of an acoustic impulse response simulation method, which can be used to comprehensively evaluate spherical array processing algorithms in reverberant environments.</p> <p>The chapter on acoustic parameter estimation describes the way in which useful descriptions of acoustic scenes can be parameterized, and the signal processing algorithms that can be used to estimate the parameter values using spherical microphone arrays.
