This gasket fits between the long upper alloy pan that fixes to the bottom of the engine block, and the smaller lower steel oil pan at the bottom. There is NO gasket in this location from the factory, only liquid RTV gasket. Having a real gasket gives the reassurance you will get a perfect seal, every time!
