Hour repeating bracket clock movement made by Walter Mitchelson during the reign of George III. Mitchelson was active in London 1779-1809. Offered for parts or to restore. The 8 day, twin chain fusee movement with five knopped pillars comes with original dial, hands and an adapted pendulum. The dial is off its posts and the strike/silent lever off its damaged post. The clock ticks over and strikes. Some alteration to the pendulum leader. Engraved backplate also signed by the maker, painted dial signed by the maker. Dimensions: Weighs 5.4kg before wrapping. The dial with 7.25"(182mm) minute ring and the plate measuring 8" (203mm) across the bottom and 11" (277mm) to the top of the arch. The mechanism with backplate5" (130mm) wide and 7.25" (174mm) high. This early silvered brass dial dates from the 19th century signed on the dial 'S. Shortman, of Newnham Cambridge'. This dial has a calendar and 60 seconds smaller dial. This engraved dial has 'Tempus fugit' on it and has retained its seatboard and a great pair of pulleys and bell (which rings well).
